Roger Ridge Ranch is a small ranch/farm located on the periphery of South Carolina’s “officially smallest town” of Smyrna. The Ranch is owned by Jean James, and her husband, Benjy James, who fills the dual roles of CEO and Stable Hand.
RRR was the family farm of Jean's ancestors, the Whitesides. Her father Roger was raised here and although he became a business man in fields far removed from farming, his heart never left these rolling hills. So as a tribute to Jean’s beloved father Roger and to the distinctinve ridge which runs through the center of the property, we decided to name our little ranch Roger Ridge Ranch.
Day-to-day operations at the ranch are the responsibility of our Resident Managers, Ron and Victoria Savilla. They live on the ranch, making sure the menagerie of goats, hogs, chickens, ducks and dogs are well taken care of and that the ranch runs smoothly.
Roger Ridge Ranch is dedicated to raising animals in a natural environment and are allowed to free range in four pastures. We specialize in Fullblood and Percentage New Zealand Kiko goats, English Berkshire hogs, French Black Copper Maran chickens, and Khaki Campbell ducks. Our approach to farming is summarized in our motto:
"Raising Happy Animals, Naturally"
We have 100% New Zealand Kiko bucks, Berkshire pigs, and free range eggs for sale. All of our animals, particularly the goats love visitors, so give us a call and bring the family out for a great say in the farm. The farm is available for events of all kinds such a birthday parties, family reunions, weddings, etc.
